How does Toka work?

Toka gives your customer one payment page for the amount they need to pay. They can pay it in full, split it with other people or invite others to contribute. Every payment stays connected to the same amount your business is collecting.

Can customers just pay normally?

Yes. Paying in full is the default. If they want to split the amount or ask someone else to contribute, those options are there when they need them.

Do customers need a Toka account?

No. Customers and anyone they invite can pay without creating a Toka account.

How do I get paid?

Each payment is processed securely by Pinch Payments and settled to your business. Toka does not hold your money.

What payment methods can customers use?

Customers can pay by card, with Australian bank account payments available where enabled. Available payment methods are shown when they pay.

Do I need to replace my website, booking system or invoicing software?

No. Toka can work on its own or connect to the systems you already use. Payment requests can come from a booking, invoice, order or your own website, depending on how your business works.

What happens if not everyone pays?

With a split, any unpaid share remains outstanding until it is paid. With contributions, the original customer remains responsible for whatever balance is left. You can see what has been collected and what is still outstanding in Toka.

How much does Toka cost?

There is no setup fee and no monthly subscription. Standard payment processing fees apply and are agreed with you before you go live.

Is Toka bill splitting or buy now, pay later?

No. Toka does not lend money or spread one person’s payment over time, and it does not work out who owes whom after someone has already paid. Who pays what is set out before anyone pays, and your business gets each payment directly.

Is Toka secure?

Payments are securely processed through Pinch Payments. Toka does not hold merchant funds and payment information is handled through Pinch’s payment infrastructure.
